Keyless entry and relay theft
How relay attacks work and simple ways to block them.
Some thieves use devices that relay the signal from a keyless fob inside your home to the car outside, unlocking and starting it.
Simple protection
- Store fobs away from doors and windows
- Use a signal-blocking pouch or box
- Check whether your fob has a sleep or motion-sensor mode
- Add a steering wheel lock as a visible extra layer
